Project Overview
Comprehensive tank farm rehabilitation and expansion across Iraq's Basra
oilfields and storage facilities, delivered for the Ministry of Oil and
associated operating companies. The programme replaced aging crude oil
storage tanks, added new API-compliant tanks, and upgraded associated
infrastructure for improved safety, capacity, and operational efficiency.
VEE's scope spanned condition assessment and replacement design, EPC
execution — including civil works, tank fabrication and erection,
firefighting and instrumentation — and full PMC coverage: planning, cost
control, QA/QC, HSE management to international oil & gas standards,
contractor coordination, commissioning oversight, and handover certification.
Typical tanks: 10,000–100,000 m³, fixed cone or internal floating roof, in
crude oil and refined product service, designed for integration with
upstream and export facilities.
Scope of Work
- Condition assessment: corrosion, settlement, structural integrity
- Demolition and replacement design for obsolete tanks
- New tanks per API 650; repair/reconstruction per API 653
- Foundation, bund wall, and spill containment design
- Integration of piping, manifolds, and transfer systems
Deliverables
- Safe dismantling and disposal of legacy tanks
